NiHao App — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how NiHao ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our mobile application NiHao - China Travel Companion (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

NiHao is designed with privacy-first principles. We collect the minimum amount of data necessary:

• Language Preference: Your selected language is stored locally on your device to provide content in your preferred language.
• Trip Preferences: Your selected travel style and duration are stored locally to generate itineraries.
• Checklist Progress: Your pre-trip checklist completion is stored locally on your device.

We do NOT collect:

• Your name, email, or phone number
• Your location data (location features work locally on your device)
• Photos or camera images (camera is used for on-device text recognition only — images are never stored or transmitted)
• Browsing history or usage analytics
• Personal identification information

2. How We Use Information

All data is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit, store, or process any user data on our servers. The App works entirely offline once installed.

3. Permissions Used

• Location (optional): Used only to show nearby metro stations, hospitals, and embassies. Location data is processed on-device and never transmitted.
• Camera (optional): Used for on-device menu text recognition. Photos are processed locally and never stored or uploaded.
• Phone (optional): Used for one-tap emergency dialing (110, 120, 119). Calls go directly through your phone's dialer.

4. Third-Party Services

The App contains links to third-party websites and services (such as Alipay, WeChat, Trip.com, 12306, and VPN providers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

5. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data depends on your device's security settings. We recommend using a device passcode.

6. Children's Privacy

NiHao does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The App is rated 4+ and does not contain any content inappropriate for children.

7. Your Rights

Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete. You can clear all app data at any time by uninstalling the App.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the App and on this page with an updated revision date.

9. International Users

NiHao is available worldwide. Since no data crosses borders (everything is on-device), your local privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) are inherently respected.
